This is a new Thing at St. Andrew's. It is informal. A chance to be with a God in a different way. An opportunity to sing old hymns to a new jazz tempo. A time to settle in with new experimental, jazz hymns and song. There will still be prayers, perhaps done in non-traditional ways. There will still be a sermon, probably briefer and a little “jazz-ier”. And afterward there is always tea and coffee and enough snacks to tide you over until dinner.
Our sanctuary sits in a very traditional, New England church building. But our sanctuary is far from traditional. It is light and airy. Designed in a very simple, clean, almost sparse Quaker style. We have a tall arching ceiling that adds to the sense of simple grandeur. And we have some of the best worship banners in town adorning our walls. Our sanctuary offers a very pleasant place for silent meditation as well as great acoustics for jazz.
Join us on the 3rd Sunday of the month (or any other Sunday for that matter). Absolutely everyone is welcome. We are a very open congregation and believe that God's love embraces us all. No pressure to join our community. No altar call for Jesus.. No fire and brimstone. Just grace, mercy and love with justice and peace thrown into the mix.
